As some of my clients already know, I took the whole summer off to spend time with my family and go on adventures. And adventure we did! If you follow me on instagram, you know that we did a whole lot of #quimbysummerfun2013. So much that I had friends keep asking me how we had the time. The truth is, we made the time. It's not something we can do ALL the time, especially during the school year. But we made a decision to be intentional this summer, while our kids are still young and they still want to hang out with us and do fun things.
One of the best parts of the summer for me (as a girly girl mom to two princesses), was a birthday celebration at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique for my youngest daughter, Keller. We have had Disney passes this year and this is something both girls have begged to do over and over. After a break from Disney during the hot summer months, it was super fun to return to Downtown Disney in August to do something fun with the girls. We brought along one of their sweet friends and spent the afternoon watching these three girls transform.
I also spent the summer capturing my kids in a new way - video fusion. Videos like this are something I want to eventually incorporate into my family sessions so this was kind of an experiment to see what would happen. This was such a fun day for them and doing just photos would not have done it justice.
If you've ever thought about doing a "day in the life" type session, I'd love to chat with you about doing something like this for your family. It doesn't have to be a special event like going to Disney, it could even be something as simple as filming your Saturday morning traditions together - pancake breakfasts, bike rides, reading together, picnics. The possibilities are endless!
